Tori was excited to go to her apartment complex’s swimming pool. She had just purchased a new one-piece swimsuit in pink that she was eager to show off. It was a warm afternoon, so she and her fiancé, Tyler, along with some good friends, left Tori’s apartment and headed for the pool, eager to cool off in the hot sun; however, Tori would get the shock of her life only minutes later.
A staff member at the apartment complex pool immediately notified Tori that her pink swimsuit was making other guests uncomfortable. The swimsuit was apparently inappropriate for the family setting and was getting the teenage boys excited. The staffer told Tori that she would have to leave the apartment swimming pool area because her revealing swimsuit was going to “excited” the teenagers swimming around her.
Tori was shocked. So were her friends and fiancé. But things took another turn when something even stranger happened when she went into the apartment leasing office to discuss the issue. She didn’t want to do it with the staffer who was at the pool because she was not trying to make a scene. However, she was upset that she was not allowed to swim in her own pool because someone found her pink swimsuit inappropriate.
While in the leasing office, the worker insisted that Tori was not dressed appropriately for the swimming area. The staffer insisted that Tori needed to change into something different if she wanted to use the pool that she was paying for. Tori did not understand since it was an average swimsuit. That’s when the leasing office worker said they would take a picture of Tori in her revealing bathing suit so they could show her “how inappropriate” she looked in it.
Tyler later wrote about the weird experience on Facebook. His post went viral and included the following message about his lover’s pink one-piece bathing suit.
“When my fiancée replied with, ‘I know what I look like, I bought this myself, it’s not a thong,’ the consultant told Tori that if she didn’t have kids herself, she wouldn’t understand. She was told that the leasing consultant wouldn’t want her own kids around Tori.”
Tyler said he had never seen his bride-to-be so embarrassed or humiliated. She was also very upset since she was paying for the apartment and should be able to access her pool while wearing a one-piece swimsuit.
“I felt really, really violated and sexualized and objectified,” Tori told Inside Edition.
Tori lived in Tennessee and was shocked that her one-piece bathing suit was considered so inappropriate.
“The worst part was when she told me there are a lot of teenage boys in the complex, and I don’t need to be exciting them,” Tori said.
