McDonald’s is not known for being the cleanest restaurant in the world. However, it is known for giving you your order relatively fast. But one customer has been turned away from the fast-food chain forever after they spotted a swarm of rats living off of the trash thrown away inside of a bin in a McDonald’s parking lot in Hull, East Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and they have snapped photos of the disgusting incident and shared them to Facebook along with their message which was the following.
The unnamed customer posted on Facebook: “Feel free to share before someone gets seriously unwell!!! Rat for tea, anyone?! Well, to be precise, seven rats!! Talk about vermin control?! After seeing this, I will NOT be using McDonald’s on Holderness Road. A member of staff went and changed the bin bag without any PPE on and returned to the restaurant.”
The customer claimed that the staff at the McDonald’s restaurant emptied the bin without wearing any protective equipment only minutes after the rats had done their business. Because of what they had seen the rats doing and the employees doing, they would never be eating at another McDonald’s ever again.
In response to the rat infestation at the United Kingdom McDonald’s location, the unnamed customer spoke to HullLive and said, “I am aware that where there are fast food places and where there is food waste, there will be vermin, but this is something else. This isn’t good vermin control when you can witness this in broad daylight.”
McDonald’s in the United Kingdom has had trouble with rats in recent weeks. Back in January, another customer, a female, shared a video of a rat scurrying across a dining table at an establishment a restaurant in Tilbury, Essex.
McDonald’s spokesman said: “We take cleanliness and hygiene very seriously. Pest control experts recently carried out a routine inspection of the site and confirmed there had been no evidence of pest-related activity in the restaurant. We are working with the landlords to proactively manage any potential challenges arising from the nearby railway area. The restaurant itself has not been impacted.”
